Cathy’s Colorado Backyard – FineGardening

When my husband and I moved to this house within the suburbs of Denver 10 years in the past, the landscaping was virtually completely grass. We envisioned a Colorado model of an English border backyard (my husband is from England). We wished to create a backyard that’s lovely and colourful for all seasons whereas being extra water-wise. The yard borders open house and a small farm, with views of the mountains as a bonus characteristic. The spring backyard showcases quite a lot of tulips that accent a background of Euphorbia polychroma (Zones 5–9). We have now many types of roses, together with Morden Centennial Canadian rose bush, Knock Out roses, Flower Carpet floor cowl roses, and tea roses. Perennial favorites reminiscent of Nepeta ‘Walker’s Low’ (Zones 3–8), Salvia ‘Might Night time’ (Zones 4–9), Heliopsis (Zones 3–9), PowWow Wild Berry coneflower (Echinacea hybrid, Zones 3–8), Geranium ‘Rozanne’ (Zones 5–8), and Sedum ‘Autumn Pleasure’ (Zones 3–9) preserve the backyard colourful all season.
