Employees Highlight on OFRF’s Finance & Operations Director


Sheila GoldenSheila's dog Scruggs on the water (she/her/hers) is OFRF’s Finance & Operations Director and has been with the group since 2018. She is predicated within the Santa Cruz space and has over a decade of program improvement and administration expertise in sustainable agriculture and cooperative extensions. In her free time, Sheila performs music and runs a live performance sequence in a cave. A lover of journey, Sheila enjoys climbing and biking. “I additionally spend a number of time throwing balls within the river and frisbees on the seaside for my canine, Scruggs,” says Sheila.


Inform us about your self.

I grew up in a small city in West Virginia and moved to California to discover a winter farming gig. I fell head over heels in love with the redwoods, the deserts, and mountains of California and by no means left. I spent my earlier days engaged on farms, educating outside training, and dealing as an interpretive ranger with state parks. Now, I do much more work on computer systems and spreadsheets.

Why do you care about natural farming and/or natural analysis?

I labored on natural farms early in my profession and actually appreciated the programs strategy it requires. I like seeing the panorama, flora, fauna, and microbes as one huge organism working collectively.

Who’s your farming, analysis and/or meals hero – and why?

My mother and pop! They grew most of our meals and (like many people again house) nonetheless have an enormous sustenance backyard. They have been prolific canners and meals preservers. My dad typically hunted nearly all of our protein, and typically we even foraged for mushrooms and ramps.

What are you enthusiastic about engaged on at OFRF?

I’m excited to assist OFRF develop as a company and proceed to seek out methods to demystify analysis and construct extra institutional help for natural agriculture.

Anything you’d prefer to share?

There are two residential crimson shoulder hawks that dwell in redwood bushes by my home. I really feel very fortunate to see them each day.
